da apostebet: Celtic could end up losing Ryan Christie for nothing over the next 12 months.
da gbg bet: According to The Mail on Sunday, cited by the Daily Record, the 26-year-old’s contract actually expires in January 2022. Transfermarkt have his expiry date down for May 2022, but it seems as if that is not the case.
Christie, who earns £12,000 per week at Parkhead, has attracted interest from a plethora of Premier League clubs since the turn of the year. The £8.1m-rated midfielder has been a regular for the Hoops this season, making 43 appearances in all competitions under both Neil Lennon and John Kennedy.
Transfer Tavern take
If Peter Lawwell and Dominic McKay don’t get Christie’s situation sorted over the coming months, they could be in for a transfer blunder. The 26-year-old will be able to talk to clubs outside of Scotland this summer ahead of a potential free transfer in January.
Should the Scotland international have no intentions of extending his Parkhead stay, Lawwell and McKay may be forced to sell him at a cut-price fee to prevent them from receiving nothing at the beginning of 2022.
It may only be for a few million, but that would be better than allowing Christie to walk away halfway through the 2021/22 season on a free transfer. Now is the time to act in order to try and prevent that from happening.
