Liverpool are pursuing a summer move for a striker who has “everything” to become a superstar, according to a new transfer report.
Liverpool eyeing signings after title win
The Reds are Premier League champions for a second time, following Sunday afternoon’s emphatic 5-1 win at home to Tottenham. It was a day to treasure at Anfield, with the scenes on show living with everybody for many years to come.
While Liverpool winning the title should be enjoyed by anyone of a Reds persuasion until next season gets underway, there is also a need for those at the club to ensure a busy summer transfer window takes place, making the team even more of a force when they defend their crown in 2025/26.
Arne Slot only brought in Federico Chiesa last summer, with the Italian a fringe player throughout the campaign, but a handful of top-quality new faces are needed this time around, from a long-term Andy Robertson replacement at left-back to an upgrade on Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez to lead the line.
Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton has been mentioned as an exciting target for Liverpool, with the young Englishman a player with a big future in the game at both club and international level, while Atalanta attacker and former Everton man Ademola Lookman has also been linked with a switch to Anfield.
Liverpool looking to hjiack move for striker
According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool are interested in signing Lille striker Jonathan David this summer, as they look to pip Inter Milan to his signature when he becomes a free agent. The Serie A champions have offered the Canada international just over £5m per year, but the Reds could still look to pounce.
David is considered certain to leave Lille at the end of the season but has not yet made his mind up on a new home despite the early offer from Italy.
The USA-born star has arguably been one of Europe’s leading marksmen for a few years now, having scored at such a relentless rate for Lille. A tally of 109 goals in 229 appearances for the Ligue 1 side is a superb return, showing what a prolific striker Liverpool would be signing.
The Canadian has enjoyed another productive season this time around, netting 16 times in the league and bagging seven strikes in the Champions League, while Jess Thorup has backed him to mature into a true superstar over time: “I have to say the boy belongs in a top league. He has everything to become a star in world football, not just as an athlete but also because of his personality.”

Liverpool have also seen the quality of David up close, with the 24-year-old scoring in the Champions League at Anfield earlier in the season when the Reds won 2-1, and given his age, he is a player who still has plenty of time to develop as a footballer.
