da bet vitoria: Manchester City travel to Humberside on Boxing Day to take on Hull City, hoping to secure a third straight Premier League victory for the first time since September.
da casino: Despite the impressive wins over both Watford and Arsenal, Man City boss Pep Guardiola must maximise his squad’s potential by allowing his youngsters to shine against weaker opposition.
In the past two weeks, the Citizens have secured six points from six to restore their credentials as title contenders. But, young players are yet to be given the opportunity to shine by Guardiola on a regular basis as inconsistent results have halted the progression that was made earlier on in the campaign.
Judging on current form, opponents won’t come much weaker than bottom of the table Hull City between now and the end of the season – Mike Phelan’s side have recorded just one victory in fifteen Premier League games ahead of City’s visit.
With all this in mind, here are THREE youngsters that should be given a go at the KCOM Stadium…
Aleix Garcia
When presented with an opportunity to impress, Garcia has not disappointed Guardiola or the City supporters.
The Spaniard is yet to start a Premier League game under the new City manager but with Ilkay Gundogan ruled out through injury and the ageing Yaya Toure needing a rest, Garcia might be given his chance to shine on Humberside.
Pablo Maffeo
As City’s full-backs continue to decrease in quality, now must be the time for Guardiola to play Maffeo on a regular basis.
During the side’s EFL Cup exit to Manchester United, Maffeo was excellent in preventing Marcus Rashford from having any significant influence on the game.
With Pablo Zabaleta missing the clash against Hull through injury, Guardiola has little to lose by giving Maffeo his chance against Phelan’s side.
Angelino
Whether City supporters like it or not, Guardiola is likely to stick with Aleksandar Kolarov in a central-defensive role.
In his absence at left-back, Gael Clichy filled in against Watford and Arsenal, and his performances left a lot to be desired.
During the Citizens’ match away at Hull, Guardiola should give Angelino his first Premier League appearance as his attacking prowess is capable of hurting this unstable Tigers defence.
