da marjack bet: Arsenal are set to battle Spanish giants Real Madrid for Anderlecht’s highly-rated midfielder Lucas Biglia, The Sun reports.
The Argentina international has impressed for the Belgian side since signing in 2006, and has won six caps for the South American powerhouses.
Biglia has been commended for an excellent work ethic and tough tackling in the centre of the park, and is thought to be valued in the £8 million range.
The player has admitted that both Arsene Wenger’s men and the Spanish champions have been in touch, and that a summer move away from Anderlecht is on the cards.
“Real Madrid and Arsenal have both been in contact and I’ll wait to see what happens,” Biglia confirmed.
“I am still under contract with Anderlecht until 2015, but they know that I plan to leave.
“If a club offers the right price, Anderlecht will let me go.”
Arsenal are thought to have France’s Yann M’Vila as their number one midfield target this summer, but with Rennes asking in the region of £20 million for the star Biglia may well be a more affordable option.
