Glasgow Rangers enjoyed a good week in France.
The Gers won the Veolia Trophy, a pre-season tournament, thanks to 2-0 victories against both Lyon and Nice. Whilst it may have only been a warm-up competition, it is still positive for the club that they beat two good sides so easily, and they can now look forward to their first league game of the season, which comes against Aberdeen on August 1st at Pittodrie.
Steven Gerrard spoke after the match on Saturday against Nice about the whole experience, and it is fair to say that it was an interesting one. Kai Kennedy’s future at the club is in doubt after he reportedly refused to sign a new contract, and Gerrard appeared to take aim at the 18-year-old when he criticised certain “egos” in the academy and said that those who aren’t committed can leave.
