da apostaganha: As reported exclusively by The Sun, Liverpool are interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere if he rejects an offer to stay at the Gunners.
What’s the story?
da jogodeouro: Wilshere’s contract at the Emirates expires at the end of the season and with no new deal in place, his long-term future at Arsenal is now in serious question.
The Sun report the situation is further complicated given that Arsenal are set to offer him a new deal, but only on reduced terms from his current £90,000-a-week contract.
Now Liverpool are ready to pounce and bring him to Anfield, less than 12 months after also poaching Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain away from the same, say the paper.
Does a budget move for the England international make sense for the Reds?
Midfield resurgence
Wilshere’s status at Arsenal has actually improved this season after he was shipped out on loan to Bournemouth last term, having to prove his fitness problems are behind him after a series of debilitating injuries.
He’s slowly worked his way into Arsene Wenger’s plans and after impressive form and a run of regular starts is now well placed to head to the World Cup with England.
If Liverpool can similarly keep him fit then he’d be a fantastic addition to their midfield, especially on a free transfer and especially because the Reds may have to prepare for life without Emre Can next season, whose contract also runs out at the end of this term.
Wilshere would fit well into Liverpool’s attack-minded midfield and alongside the likes of old teammate Oxlade-Chamberlain can show why he may have been undervalued at the Emirates over the years.
